6th Sunday in Ordinary Time – 12th February 2017

By In Newsletter Blog On February 10, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters

Do you know everything you need to know about your faith?  Do you often find yourself flat footed, or tongue tied, when someone you know criticises the Church or ridicules those who are Christians; Catholics?  Have you ever thought you would like to know more so that you could answer some of their questions?  Some of your own questions?

Well, I am running a very well received programme on Friday mornings after mass at Cranleigh in the parish room called “The CATHOLICISM Series – A Journey around the world and deep into the Catholic Faith.”  The programme consists in a shortish dvd which lasts for around 40 minutes which has been professionally shot (no more Open University style things!) and this is followed by about 40 minutes of sharing and questions. All the time there will be tea and coffee available.  There are ten programmes but if you can’t make them all just drop into the ones you can although, obviously, it is best to see them all as they form a complete course.  You will not be disappointed.  There is even a course book to help you grow through the course if you want it. (at extra cost)

But why not in the evening?  Well, I haven’t time to run it in the evening as well.  If people enjoy it perhaps later on in the year we can run an evening course for those who have to work.   If you look on the parish website – http://www.rcchurchcranleighbramley.org.uk – you can find a lot more information about it and some sample clips and even a whole dvd worth of Number 6.

If you would like to take part please sign up on the forms at the back of church.

Best wishes Fr David

Pokot Drought Appeal Update The drought appeal over the weekend of 28th and 29th January resulted in donations of an incredible £3002.35 (including £417 for school fees). And last weekend, 4th and 5th February, saw further donations of an amazing £2,080.37 (including £400 for school fees). But that’s not all, I have received cheques amounting to £1075 these last few days. As the PR people, would put it, “Due to the unprecedented interest and demand, the drought appeal remains open for a few days yet. So, hurry, you don’t want to miss this life-giving opportunity”. And please don’t forget Win Bracking’s Pokot lunch next Wednesday, 15th February in the Cranleigh Room.
On behalf of Fr Conway and Fr McGovern and the people they serve in East Pokot, thank you all for this truly wonderful generosity.  Eugene McGivern. Tel 01483-893379 or at emcgivern@btinternet.com
