12th Sunday in Ordinary Time 20th June2021
Please welcome Fr Chris Benyon to Vigil Mass and Fr Kevin Dring to Sunday Masses.
This year, the UK will host the ‘COP26’ climate talks in Glasgow in November. Many of the world’s poorest countries are struggling to cope with the effects of climate change such as increased droughts, floods and cyclones. We need world leaders to put the poorest people at the heart of their talks and the UK has a critical role to play as host. Please sign our petition to the Prime Minister at cafod.org.uk/reclaim. Groups from parishes across our diocese are also meeting their MPs locally, to let them know how strongly we feel as Catholics about protecting our earth and helping our sisters and brothers around the world. Further details can be found here: Parliament in your Parish | CAFOD. Please consider holding a meeting with your MP too.
World Day of Prayer
Formally known as the Women World Day of Prayer. Now all are welcome to the service to be held at Holy Trinity Church Bramley on Saturday July 3rd at 10.30
This year it is the Holy Trinity Church who are organising the service for all our surrounding villages. It is an ecumenical service written by the Christian women of Vanuatu. Usually, we share the same day over all the world but due to the COVID-19 this is not possible. We will therefore be having a local service.
Depending on the outcome of the Covid-19 arrangements we may need to be outside in which case we will use the Garden of Remembrance next to Holy Trinity Church.
Thanks to your support, CAFOD has been helping communities around the world cope with the pandemic. Just in Zambia, in the past year, our reports show we’ve been able to reach 1,234,200 people with messages on COVID-19, provide 13,312 people with access to safe water, train 392 frontline health workers from Zambia’s 11 dioceses on how to prepare and respond to COVID-19 in their local communities and donate over 1000 handwashing hygiene stations in communities to support handwashing measures. Thank you for standing alongside people in Zambia and for supporting people in more than 30 other countries worldwide.
Congratulations to the June winners of the 300 Club: 1st Pat C, 2nd Jane M, 3rd Helen G.
